Report

Report:Since James was obviously feeling nostalgic for days of yore when match reports were a thing, let us for his benefit, and for one night only, roll back the years and produce a few words to describe last night's proceedings as PL entertained BCC ...

Jack v Lewy
Decent match with Jack having to escape from jail in the 2nd game after being game ball(s) down. The other two were controlled well enough to take it 3-0.

Gina v Sam
Gina displayed her usual rapid court movement to provide an answer to every question posed by Sam. The only blot on the performance for her occurred in the 3rd where she appeared to switch off a bit. The 2nd was very tight with 5 games balls required to take it versus 3 against.

Author v "Le Pip" (according to the shirt)
Pip rather too young, fast and attacking for the author. Same old refrain. Without the settling down time afforded by old school HiHo scoring the author is just getting going by the end of the 3rd (as evidenced by the scoreline). Too little, too late.

And now, le pièce de résistance of the evening: Ben v James
Long old game of which I saw precious little. James went 2-0 up in a couple of tight ones. Ben dug himself out of a large 6-10 sized hole in the 3rd to sneak it (with some whingeing from James about "that ball was never up" in there somewhere). I pitched up in the bleachers at the start of the 5th to see James blowing out of his a*se and starting the walking from side to side routine. This lasted until 7-1 to Ben, at which point three or so cheap points got away and James suddenly decided it wasn't beyond redemption. Cue a big comeback and match to James at the death.

The usual good natured encounter with the BCC boys, and a narrow win for the home team.

End of journalistic comeback ...
