Report: | Keith Pier at 4 for Bexley - a promising debut for 'newby' Keith. All he needs now is to be nominated ;)
For the KP, this stunning result lifts them off the floor (albeit Bexley have a game in hand). And it completes their resurrection from the seemingly impossible 'your starter for -10' walkover penalty. Now firmly a point off last, Knole can almost only get better.
Mark showed flashes of belwildering skill in befuddling Paul for 3 games. Tim, having been nearly blinded in one eye by teammate John a couple of days earlier, showed why he is fast becoming the man most likely to play a drop shot in challenging Adam to a similarly close tussle.
By the time these four played, however, the damage was done. KP leaped to a 3-0 lead on the back of memorable wins for Gareth (I'm a slow starter), and Chris (one of my heels is falling off). To cap it all, John played a career-ending captain's role to reduce old adversary Rob to a racket-hurling rant. We do hope his threat to hang up his socks will prove temporary, as he has provided sporting opposition to Knole for many years and still has a lot to offer. Perhaps coincidentally, Peter Barker announced his retirement today too. What are the chances?
Bexley were good company afterwards, although did complain about the timing of the fixture which meant they missed Christmas Dinner at The Anchor pub by a week. [League Secretary please note].
