Report

Report:And so to the last one of the season v BLTC. A pretty good one to finish off the season, with the deciding factor (unfortunately) being Nick's ability to get inside the head of his own teammates (of which more later)!

Nick v Gordon.
Didn't see any of this but Nick was off in fairly short order, recording a good result against Gordon and getting PL off to a good start.

Author v Dave.
Not too much evidence of holiday mode for the author (after the knock up was completed anyway). A decent match, but the author unable to maintain the initiative regained in the 2nd as Dave reasserted authority from the 3rd onwards. Honours even.

And the crunch match - Billy v Ket.
Billy was off to a good start, coming out on top in the first two tight games. At this point the warning signs started flashing in a brilliant red as Nick heaped on the advice to a clearly overloaded Billy who just needed the small amount of positive reinforcement the author was trying to squeeze in edge-ways! Sure enough, the next two slipped away as Billy let it get inside his head. Fortunately in the 5th a few calming words by the alternative coaching staff seemed to help as Billy clung on to record a good and very tight win.

Ket did his usual prodigious amount of running throughout and this is what forced each game to the wire. Sadly, this decided the count-back issue.

Last on Zeb v Ted.
Ted produced his usual brand of ridiculously relaxed looking squash, with plenty of faked straight drives, and pick-ups for winners off glued drops. Zeb understandably got a bit frustrated and made a few more errors than normal in trying to cope with it. Nevertheless, a good match to watch and (new year's resolution?) to mark!

Ted seems to have completed his transformation now as he appears set to take on the captaincy in the winter. Interesting to see if this turns out to be the biter bit!

All done, and a long chin-wag by all in the bar, with the author taking it on the chin for the boys and soaking it up from Nick.
