Report: | Knole put some much needed points on the board, against a Bexley side clearly weakened by the burdens of having to support a Premier League side at the top and a vast sump of 5th team players bringing up the rear.
Great to see old friends Vic (my only match this season was in Division 1) and Adam (I'm still living off the Nanu's revenge glory) though.
The strategy of preparing Mike and Will for tough opposition obviously worked this week, as our two friends were dispatched summarily. Credit to them, they swallowed their disappointment and stayed to the bitter end (and lager top end too) to witness some tough battles and an excellent Anchor spread.
James and Kieran never have a simple match, and this one was almost the same as their last encounter. A blip in game 3; a couple of games on both sides snatched from losing positions. The usual sideways looks at the marker when things got tough. James possibly fortunate to sneak the fourth 9-6 from 3-6 down; but a clear winner in the 5th as Kieran tired.
Niall found the dogged Christo a handful (he was warned), but kept his head to grind out a result - I think 'winning ugly' was your view of it, Niall?
And finally, David came up against the ever-improving and all-court covering Ross. Another ding-dong that could have gone either way. Not pretty, but eventually effective, time-honed skill from David versus never-say-die retrieving by the youth. Having a cruel but fair marker most assuredly helped. :)
Bring on the rest of the Bexley hordes.
