Report: | First up Keeley v Louise - Keeley taking the first with Louise hitting back-hand volleys into the tin and Keeley keeping Louise under pressure. 2nd and 3rd games competitive but Louise front court game excellent and taking them both comfortably. After poor start in 4th game, Keeeley picked up the pace and kept Louise away from the front and took an 8-6 lead and then managed to hit 4 consecutive shots into the tin - quite an achievement. !!!! game of real quality and played in good spirit. Meanwhile Steve and Dan having a marathon - games swinging one ay and then the other, mostly because Steve was not his normal consistent self. Dan kept his game tidy, picking up shots from all over the court and playing straight forward shots. Steve, hitting winners, especially on forehand and then missing easy points - one moment looking slow and then the opposite. Final game saw each p[layer taking a 2 point lead and Dan slightly more in control and energy still high - however, Steve once again raised his game and went from 6-7 down to win. Very close game. Next up, Mac-Skipper v John. Skipper one the warm up and then lost the first game 9-3!! Battled back in the second, much tighter and winning points round the front of the court and won the second. Third game went back and forth but John's delayed back hand drop being the deciding factor -2-1 to John, who kept the momentum and won 3-1. Meanwhile another marathon between Stew and Dale - Stewart taking the first 2 and having match balls in the third and fourth. Both players, excellent retrieving, Stewart often in control but unable to put the ball where Dale couldn't return - nip and tuck, but Dales energy maintained and took the 5th 9-6. Final match Scott v Paul. Scott took off like a steam train, hitting winners from all the place, especially reverse angles and took the first 2 comfortably. Paul, as he often does, stuck in, retrieved balls that Scott thought were winners and hit some good boasts round the front to take the 3rd. Scott got back on his toes in the 4th and although the game remained competitive, always had the upper hand and won 3-1. A good evening, with Bromley successfully managing to keep 100% loss record, despite the promise of rewards- only Scott (a rain poncho) and Steve ( a Chelsea badge ) receiving expensive goods. We will be back!!!
