Report

Report:Quite a quiet night as PL entertained Bromley Cricket. Only one match on, with the 3rds getting the night off.

Kennedy v Stabler
Didn't see an awful lot of this as I was on court next door, but Gina seemed to get into it pretty well considering she looked to be a bit impeded movement wise at the start. Games were all tight, and this turned out to be a very good win, and revenge for the first half where the result was the opposite way round.

London snr v McMeckan snr
Almost like the good old days with Ian back in the side. Despite being exhorted by his coaching team to hit the skin off the ball, Ian didn't, instead playing at a more relaxed pace that suited the author just fine and dandy. Apart from the start of the 2nd where Ian built up a decent lead, a reasonably comfortable match for the author.

Young v Ryall
This was probably the match of the night. Some good rallies with Zeb seeming to (a) go for a bit too much short too early on and (b) beating himself up a bit about his perceived inability to close out game balls. In truth, a lot of this was down to Lewy's characteristic springy, speedy movement around the court, mixed in with quite a lot of deceptive shot play. After a very tight 1st where Zeb couldn't convert any of his 3 game balls, a tight 2nd where he did so first time, Lewy inexplicably went walkabout in the 3rd. Zeb tightened things up and kept the mistake level to a minimum, and Lewy went for some strange shots that weren't really there to go for, despite a very late comeback. The 4th was back to normal service with Zeb doing just enough and some cracking rallies to finish it all off. A good win.

Mitterer v McMeckan jnr
Didn't see a huge amount of this either as I was marking next door, but it all looked pretty tight, with Jack doing enough to control each game and take a good 3-0 win. James seemed quite impressed, and was quite complimentary afterwards.

And so a very good win for PL, with as usual, the BCC boys being the best post match entertainment in the bar. As ever, a discrete veil should probably be drawn over much of the discussion for a family audience. The resolution of Sam's hearing issues provided a grisly pre-dinner warm-up, along with descriptions of some dubious parenting skills(!). As ever, much hilarity ensued over various county weekend antics from days of yore. Good value.
