Report: | Our mates from Woolwich turned up in strength and gave us quite a pasting. Craig and Ces seemed well matched but in the end the latter's tighter shots and superior fitness shone through. Some nice long, well-controlled rallies though. Simon and Tim are old adversaries and it seemed to be a rout when Tim put up sterner resistance in the 3rd as Simon's concentration faltered. Game ball to Tim was wasted but he desperately tried to come back as match ball against saw him dive fruitlessly for the ball and end the match spread-eagled in the front of the court (more effort!). Oli vs Luis was a more serious affair and neither was yielding an inch for much of the match. However, Oli was the more successful when selecting winners and took a run of points when it mattered. Meanwhile, Darius, having a break from his revision, took on Captain Steve who just beat him last time. I missed most of their match but Darius must have retained more control than previously, not hacking like a man/boy possessed. Fitness of youth also played a considerable part in Darius' victory this time. So, at 3-1 to Waterfront, over to Brian and Richard. Brian, tired from a long BH cycling trip returning in the small hours and Richard masterful as ever. He knew exactly where to send Brian, the cleaners mostly, in very economical fashion. Well done Waterfront (again!). |
