Report

Report:Bromley and Limpsfield kicked off their summer league campaigns on what was surely the hottest day of the year. Bouncy balls awaited !

1st up on court was Ross vs Peter and Sam W vs Phoebe. I didn't see the game between Sam as I was marking the Ross Peter game but it looked like it would be an epic marathon. Sam taking the 1st 9-7 with Phoebe fighting back in the 2nd to win 5-9.
However the power of Sam ended up being too much for the ever improving Phoebe as he took the next 2 games to take the match 3-1.

On the other court Ross started off slowly as Peter took an early lead of 6-1. Peter was hitting some very accurate lengths and all very tight to the wall.
Ross fought back though with some great squash to take the 1st 10-9.
Ross seemed to have worked out Peter's game and was taking the ball nice and early to cut out the lengths and took the next 2 games very comfortably 9-0 and 9-3 for a 3-0 win. 2-0 Bromley.

Next up on court the 2 skippers Kev and Rob locked horns.
Kev took the 1st game with relative ease as Rob decided to try and squat imaginary flies instead of hit the ball. 9-0 Kev.
The 2nd game Rob managed to ignore the flies and started connecting the ball making it a much better contest. Kev taking it 9-5.
Kevin finished the job in the 3rd winning 9-4 to take the match 3-0 and give Bromley a guaranteed win on the night.

The last 2 matches saw number 2 seeds marathon hero Dan Schweeeeny vs Adam Smith.
Dan still yet to be back to his best after the grueling 26 mile run gave his all in this one but lost out to a very determined Adam. 1-3.

Lastly we had Stewart Gotts (standing in for Tony Davies who is currently on an 18-50's holiday in Ibiza) vs probably the best number 1 in division 6 James Flanagan.

James stormed the 1st game 9-1 and with the help of Stewart's out of court serving took the 2nd 9-2.

Flanagan was playing some great squash and looked like he would win the 3rd with ease but Stewart rallied back hard with some top squash of his own.
Gottsy had game ball but James somehow dug deep and took the game 10-8 to win 3-0.

3-2 to Bromley and a good night had by all.

Cheers Limpsfield, see you in the return leg
