Report: | Wells made the wet and long trip down to the theatre of dreams this week for this top of the table clash.
Bromley looking to inflict revenge on Wells who gave Bromley their only defeat so far this summer league period.
1st up we had Sam Vs Elliot and myself vs Ben.
I only caught the last few points but from what I was told the epic 3rd game which Sam took 10-8 meant Elliot had run his race and there was nothing left in the tank. A good win for Sam 3-1.
Ben and myself had a competitive knock up but I managed to win the 1st game 9-1 in a comfortable manner.
Ben decided to wake up and took a 6-1 lead in the 2nd however I managed a comeback to win 9-6.
The 3rd game saw Ben staying deeper in the court so pushing up on the T and taking some early volleys did the trick and a 3-0 win was complete. 2-0 Bromley.
Dan Sweeney and Mark Sykes next up and Sweeney started on fire playing some lovely winners. 9-4 Dan.
2nd game saw Mark's long wing span coming in to effect and Sweeney was finding it harder to get the ball past him. Mark eventually took the 2nd 4-9.
The 3rd game was a real battle and Dan eventually took it 10-8. Luckily for Dan club legend Ali Mcmeckan was watching and gave Sweeney some valuable advice for what would be the last game and it worked. Dan pressed higher up the court and took more volleys on the forehand and took the game 9-6 and the match 3-1. Revenge complete as Bromley now guaranteed the win with 3 points on the board.
Number 1 seeds Tony and Nick were well in to their game as Dan and Mark were finishing up so didn't see much of this but Tony took this match 3-0 with 2 comfortable games and a tough one in the middle. 4-0 Bromley.
Tony remains unbeaten this summer season and he deservedly took home approximately 8 sausages for the Davies household. They will eat well tomorrow ;-)
Finally up on court we had Giles vs Chris. A 5-0 whitewash was on the cards, however Chris played superbly and didn't let this materialise.
Giles aka The Tinman also did his very best to stop the 5-0 happen with many many many shots smashed in to the Bromley tin.
3-1 to Chris and some pride for Wells restored.
4-1 win to Bromley who now sit at the top of the table.
Good spirited squash played between the 2 sides as always and a pleasure to host.
