Report

Report:Last game in a long first half to negotiate, what little suprises could we expect this time. Well none as it turned out. Without the rich, deep coffers of Park Langley (And Dulwichsky for that matter) to confront, it was back to playing a bog standard good old traditional Division one team. Bit like meeting an old friend again, and it certainly is with the BCC lads.

King Lewey v Rent Boy
Things did not look good at the start of this one for El Capitano with the first words out of Kings Lewey's mouth being 'Come on then boys, how many points will he do me for'
As it happened after 3-3 in the first I could see his point. Rent Boy playing patient, controlled squash sqeezed out the next 6 points to win the first 9-3.The second and third followed exactly the same pattern with Rent Boy relentlessly notching up points without any stunning winners or nicks, just great length, width and good working boasts. King Lewey going down to five points but that's three more than I got off the bugger last Sunday !!

Dutch Prodigy v Alex
Now I am informed by El Capitano that everyone on this planet who remotely knows the mighty Michelle logs on to avidly read of his performance each Tuesday night. So I can report to the raging hords that his performance was limp, without fight,no passion, lazy, error strewn and quit frankly a disgrace to his club and team mates. (Sorry Michelle, Ian made me)
Actually a good game this one with Alex taking an early lead which was reeled in by DP through sheer hard work which forced Alex into making more mistakes than he would have liked. After several game balls missed by Alex, DP took the first 10-9 at the first attempt. After a quick team talk with the DC an Rent Boy, Alex came out in the second moving DP around the court with more authority and forcing mistakes from the back of the court. The third and forth were played in the same manner with Alex running out a 3-1 winner but the scorline does not really reflect how this game went.Alex was never comfortable in this one and DP never let his head go down and worked hard right to the end.

Turkish Delight v Laney
Didn't see this one as I was hard at it on the other court (never see your games Laney so can't really say much)
I did ask Laney how this one went but just got a snort and a half baked grin as a reply so I guess it must have been straight forward. Didn't ask Turkish Delight as he looked like he might give me a similar reply but without the grin.

JT V Debt Collector
All started swimmingly for DC taking the first 9-1 without too much trouble. The second was a different affair with JT getting his head down cutting out the errors and forcing the ball tighter down the walls. 9-6 to JT. Third was going the same way with JT getting to 8-4 and DC scratching his head, back to basics was all I could come up with. Seemed to work though, extended rallies eventually forced some errors out of JT and DC got out of jail 10-8.
Forth was played by DC in the same manner as the second half of the third with the reult being 9-1.

El Capitano v Mighty Mac.
Only saw the last game as I figured this one would go on for ages due to the Mac's normal pattern of play, but no. Gordon went 2-0 up in pretty quick time, the 3rd was a closer affair after Gordon decided a bit of Christmas spirit was needed.Leading comfortably 7-4 and Ian asking for a let which was duly given by TD. 'Na you have the point,I would have given it up anyway' Natrually the game then went to 8-8 but Gordon played safe and closed it out 10-8.
A last word about El Capitano, I don't think I have ever come across a bloke who gets so pumped with total commitment to every shot even if a wall looks like it might get in the way. There's more chance of the court collapsing than Ian backing off!

Finally, as always, great food by the BCC lads and an interesting conversation between Mighty Mac and JT about animal experimentation with Monkeys while I was trying to tuck in to my chilli !

Happy Christmas to all the Priory One lads, look forward to doing it all again in the new year.
