Report

Report:First on were number ones Scott and Dave. The match opened with two very closely fought games. Dave was clearly feeling the pace and looked to be wilting after the blistering first two games. Scott was surely in pole position to step up and take the match. Fortunately for Dave Scott resorted back to Mr Lobber Lobber mode which gave Dave just the breather he needed. In an entertaining last two games Dave's superior shot selection proved just too much for Scott even with his new improved laser vision.

Unfortunately I didn't see the number 3's, John and Tony, play but it was allegedly a very sporting affair with Tony having just too much in his armoury for John to cope with after his winter sabbatical.

Matt and Matt at two were next. Matt C looking to avenge his 3-1 defeat at home earlier in the season. Both players displayed some impressive racket skills in an entertaining match. Matt P was still struggling with an ankle injury and just didn't have enough in the tank to stay with the fitter Matt C who took the match 3-1

Paul and Alan at four were expected to be battle of the fittest. Fredericks were quietly confident that the ever improving Paul would be just too fit for Alan (or anyone else for that matter) to stay with. Unfortunately even the lightening fast Paul was unable to pick up Alan’s entertaining shots of off the frame (evidently it saves on restringing costs) Despite his retreiving skills he still ran out an unlucky 3-1 loser.

Last on number five's. Whilst Dave P at one thrived on the Bexley Lobber Lobber approach the flat footed Dave W could only watch and fume at the ball constantly soaring over his head into the back corners of the court. John eased his way to a 3-0 victory with enough strength left to take on all comers at snooker in the bar. Dave W just eased himself closer to the subs bench for next week. (Looks like Heinz the mighty tin man could be back for the trip to Acacia)

A good time was had by all, though some more than others, with a small contingent carrying on into the early hours. A rather worse for wear Fatboy losing his house keys and having to get the wife out of bed to let him in at 2 AM, not the most romantic start to Valentines day.!!! (looks like he could be grounded for next week, no loss there then)
