| Report: | The home of squash Bromley Cricket Club played host to cup action last night with Bromley CC 3rd team facing Bromley 2nd team.
A repeat of the derby from a few seasons ago when they were both in the same league saw a fun night of squash with the div 4 title contenders coming out too strong on the night as expected.
1st up we had Captain of the 3rd team yours truly vs the maestro Dan Sweeney.
With plenty of pounds and stone on show in this heavyweight encounter (although both shedding the weight by the day) it went pretty much as expected.
Sweeney with trick shots galore and me chasing shadows. I managed to nick a game which I was pleased about and certainly didnt disgrace myself. Sweeney though too good. 3-1
Sam vs Keeley at the same time and this one as many predicted was tight for the 1st 2 games with Sam squandering game balls and Keeley being as resilient as ever as she took the 1st 2 games on the tie break.
Sam though it seemed had run his race in the last as Keeley took it 9-1 to take a 3-0 win.
Highlight of the match though was marker Scott threatening to throw his pen at Sam for having one of his famous outbursts :-)
Next up we had 2nd team new signing Pip vs Danny.
This was a very one sided match with Pip covering the court with ridiculous speed.
Danny didn't play badly but Pip was just so fast to everything and Danny's winners had to be worldy's to get it past the bouncing gazelle. 3-0 Pip.
Giles vs 2nd team captain Scott up next.
Didn't see any of this as was marking the next game but same pattern as the rest of the matches really with the 2nd team player too strong and consistent.
Again, Giles not doing himself any disgrace at all but Scotty too Hotty and got the win 3-0.
Finally going on at the same time was Ian vs Nick.
Nick started off well taking a 3-0 lead but the Mckmeckanator found his feet and was too strong and deceptive and took the next 18 points for only 1 more in reply from Nick.
It looked like the 3rd game would be a formality but a lapse in concentration from Ian aka Steve Jobs and a 2nd wind from Nick saw him take a game 9-2.
The 2nd wind however petered out in to a mild puff and Ian took the 4th 9-0 to give him a 3-1 win and seal the 5-0 win for the 2nd team.
Well played 2nd's, a good night had by all.
Now go win that cup !!!!! |
