Report: Capital Performance From The London Boys

A strong Park Langley team battered Bromley CC 5 - 0 on tuesday, handing Bromley CC their 3rd loss in 4 games.

London Boys Clive & Steve took on Michel and Lewis at 3 and 1 respectively.

Clive Vs Michel.

Clive had dropped himself to number 3 for this match after having a tough match the previous evening. Michel was looking to maintain his impressive form in his debut season.
Unfortunately Clive showed no sign of fatigue in the first game as he walked it 9 - 1. Michel began to claw himself back into the game in the second and started to put up some resistance to Clive's consistent rallying. But in the end, Clives' faultless game helped him prevail 9 - 4. The third was a mirror of the second. Long rallies in the early exchanges, helped keep Michel in touching distance of Clive, but again the wiser Clive won out 9 - 4. Although the first game was a write off, the second two games were closer than the scoreline suggests. To be fair to Michel though, Clive will be
too strong for everyone in the league at number 3.

Steve Vs Lewis.

A couple of weeks ago this would have been a home banker. Lewis was unbeaten in four whilst Steve was winless in four. But Steve seems to have got to grips with playing at 1, whilst Lewis has gone off the boil recently.

This match was over in a flash as Steve comfortably won 3 - 0, despite some late resistance in the third from Lewis. To be fair to Lewis, he did have a heart transplant at the weekend, although someone later suggested he needed a brain transplant after that performance. Steve on the other hand wanted to finish the game as quickly as possible, especially as his mum was nagging him to hurry up as he had homework to do.

2 - 0 and 6 - 0 to PK, the writing was on the wall.

Steven promoted to 2 took on Ian, whilst Dave aka 'The Student' took on Matt at 4.

'The Student' Vs Matt.

The previous week Dave had been thrashed and hence had a point to prove to the manager.
'The Student' had used some of his student loan to get himself all kitted up for the match, with a new squash bag and racquet. By all accounts Dave played much better than last week, and although Matt eventually won 3 - 0, each game was extremely tight, and could have gone either way. Hopefully this is a sign that Dave is regaining some of the form that saw him perform so well last season.

Pratt (Ian) Vs Pratt

Ian was looking to restore some much needed pride for his beloved club, but it wasn't going to be easy against a starry eyed Steven, who hadn't lost all season. After passing a drugs test, Steven began the first game as if he was on Speed. With the wildest forehand in Kent Squash, he thrashed the ball around at 100mph. Ian not to be outdone, tried to hit it even harder, but this played straight into Stevens' hands and he easily won the first. After some counselling from his team, Ian changed his tactics and slowed it down in the second. Steven produced alot of unforced errors, and Ian
managed to win the second 9 - 5.

Ian raced into an early lead in the third, and looked like he was going to win it. Steve fought back though and won the game 10 - 9. Ian was swearing away, and he was losing his head as usual. It didn't bode well for the fourth. After a long lecture from both his Dad and Adam about swearing on court he managed to regain his composure and hold on to win the fourth and take it into a fifth and final game. The game was even all the way through, but Steve's deft touches round the front were too much for Ian, and helped Steve take a highly entertaining match 3 - 2.

Alastair Vs Adam.

With everyone watching the two Pratts on the other court, the number 5's had to mark themselves. According to Alistair this meant he wasn't in a competitive frame of mind, and this was clearly reflected in the scoreline as he was completely outplayed winning only 5 points. The good thing according to Alastair was that he later won a game, and in another took Adam to 10 - 8. Too "F...ING" late if you ask me.

The slight delay in the production of this report was that it took five days to come up with that headline. (Only joking, Alistairs' only contribution to the night was that headline) No hard feelings dad
