| Report: | 1st up Adam Willis now relegated to no 5. He worked hard and won 3-1
Next up Dean v captain Neil Harris at no 4. Dean beat him 3-1 at home but last night took no prisoners, winning 9-1 9-2 9-4. The marathon training is paying off as he was like lightning round the court. Neil said he thought there was two of him last night as he was so quick.
Next was Hany v Keith Bonsels at no 2. Hany does’nt like dropping down to 2 and it showed in a lack lustre performance yet again, losing 9-6 9-1 4-9 9-7 to an old boy who played very well indeed. Their whole team was shocked by this result as Hany had beaten their no 1 Chris davis 3-2 at home and without Chris last night their whole team moved up 1 place so a shock result.
Drew on the other court at no 3 v Danny o’brian who he had beaten at home 3-1 went down 3-2 last night. Drew started well winning 9-3 with impressive disguise shots but lack of court practise soon took its toll losing 3-9 7-9. However he dug in well in the 4th to get to 8-6 only to go 8-8 and as usual called 1 but nicked it 9-8. In the 5th at 4-6 down Drew went down badly with cramp. After a delay to try and sort it he finished the game limping badly & never got another point losing 4-9.
With the match poised at 2-2 on went superstar brummie Matt Suckling who coasted to a 3-0 win 9-5 9-6 9-4 though he dragged it out a bit as he needed the practise.
A lovely meal followed by the usual good banter. A very good evening indeed. |
