| Report: | Georgina and Angie had an enjoyable game which Georgine was victorious in however the score does not reflect Angie's true ability as she has been injured recently and we wish her a speedy recovery. Sarah and Mericka's match was the game of the evening. Two players with very similar styles battled it out and chased every shot down in this epic struggle. It was a pleasure to watch and whilst the less experienced Sarah's determination kept her in the game and won her the third game Mericka was then able to respond by changing her game and playing to her strengths. This will be an interesting battle in the second leg. Debbie and Claire had a most enjoyable game and whilst Claire was able to inflict some damage with good use of the lob Debbie's attacking play meant that she was the deserved winner. At No 1 string Sharon and Anne had a tightly fought battle where the power balance shifted frequently. Even in the last game it could have gone either way as Anne had an initial lead however Sharon composed herself and won six consecutive points which ultimately proved decisive. Whilst injured it was nice to see Mags supporting the team and we hope she heals soon. The after match events were also of the highest order and as usual Cascades' company proved most entertaining. Mote look forward to their return match in July. |
