Report:BCC COME UNSTUCK AT BEXLEY

After last weeks resounding win against Amida, the bookies had BCC to go on a long unbeaten run, they didn't reckon with a resurgent Bexley, keen to put last weeks heartbreak behind them.

Bexley dropped Steph and bought in big man Rob at 5. BCC were unchanged for the 3rd week, but how would El Capitano fare in his first game back from injury??

Matt vs FC (No.4)
Unbeaten this season, FC took his training up to a new level this week by deciding not to go away this weekend. However after the warm up he looked like he had been tangoed.
Somehow he managed to hold on to Matt in the first, fighting for every point with some unorthodox squash and some great retrieving which defied believe when you look at the size of him. In all fairness Matt threw this one away. In the second FC began to hit some length on his drives, and his drops began to stick. Despite some close rallies, FC moved 2-0 up.
FC decided to rest his battle weary body in the third, before making one final push in the 4th. It proved an inspired decision as he won his 3rd match on the trot for BCC.

Matt Vs JT (No.3)

Keen to get on and off quickly what with his bar being run by a 15yr old, Matt was out of the blocks like a bat out of hell. JT's sickly stomach (due to his diet of Maltesers and Humous), caused him problems in the early exchanges, but after a long toilet break he began to battle toe to toe with Slack.
The 2nd could have gone either way, but Slacks' superior fitness and crosscourts proved enough. Into the 3rd and JT turned the match around. His retrieving was superb and his tight lengths had Slack getting his knickers in a twist, and throwing his racquet around ala El Capitano syle.
It proved a false dawn however as Slack regained his composure to record another impressive win. Running the bar down at Bexley seems to be paying off for Slack.

Steeden vs King Lewy (No.1)
Yours truly was on the other court for the duration of this match, but judging by the scoreline and the fact that the whole gallery was watching it (including FC who was meant to be marking my match) - it was a humdinger. King Lewy was still feeling the effects of a heavy drinking session over the last few days as he was swept away in the 1st. A 8-0 lead in the second soon vanished as Mark clawed his way back to go 2-0 up. Under severe pressure, King Lewy rose to the challenge and began to play some of his best squash. He fought to the death and won the next 2 to take it to a fifth. Fitness proved his downfall though, as Mark went on to take the 5th quite easily.
In a post match interview with BCC TV, King Lewy explained that 4 days of heavy drinking had somewhat affected his fitness and he had just run out of puff. I just hope all our budding youngsters don't follow his example.

Rob vs El Capitano (No.5)
Seeing as I always have to write about my match, I'm somewhat bias in my appraisal. However I can definetly say that this time I played awful and Rob played quite well. The injury didn't hamper me, it was more a fact of rubbish returning, wild drops, poor marking by FC, and Rob deciding not to get tired after 4 points.
A topsy turve match saw Rob contrive to lose the 4th after getting into what seemed a winning poistion. Some long rallies in the 5th dominated the early exchanges, even forcing El Capitano to go and be sick off court (well that's what i told everyone). But (hold the front page) - ROBs' SUPERIOR FITNESS proved the difference as he gave Bexley the win.

Matt Vs #3 (No.2)
This match got underway just before 10pm - much to the annoyance of #3 - who seems to moan about everything. #3 was slow to get out of the blocks in the 1st as Matt wiped the floor with him.
At this point i retired to the showers, but when i returned, #3 was playing some inspired squash - he had Matt covering all 4 corners of the court and was playing some great squash.
His deft touches around the front were working as was his lengths. He had too much for Matt in the end and he recorded a good 3-1 win - which levelled the scores at 11-11.
A good performance from #3 who is keen to prove he should be higher up the order, especially as Students' return is imminent.
