Report: | Burning The Candle At Both Ends Sends BCC To Another Defeat
A heavy weekend for the entire BCC squad resulted in a lack lustre performance, and a defeat at the hands of rejuvenated Dulwichski.
Having spent the entire weekend in the Glastonbury mud, #3 was rested.
JT had just flown in from DisneyWorld the day before so was still feeling the effects of jet lag, whilst King Lewy, Student, El Capitano and FC had spent the entire weekend in Brussels, drinking and playing with the Spanish & Belgium women’s squash teams.
King Lewy Vs Tim (No.1)
I had the pleasure of marking this one, although I was only needed to call out the scores as I don’t remember a single let or stroke being called. Tim was effortless in the 1st, controlling the game from all 4 corners of the court. King Lewy looked weary, still recovering from the copious amounts of Jupiler that he consumed over the weekend.
He managed to put in some great boasts in the second and a couple of dead nicks for good measure. He took the game to Tim and managed to force a couple of mistakes to level the match at 1-1.
In the 3rd and 4th, Tim stepped it up a level when he needed to, with some great length and deceptive boasts that always seemed to hit the nick. To his credit King Lewy played really well and forced Tim to play even better. Although you always felt there was plenty left in the locker. He rounded off the match with a customary dead nick.
Student Vs A.Moore (No.2)
Should it be sick note or student? Student was wearing a back brace after tweaking it whilst in Brussels. He also had nasty hay fever and flu, plus he was missing his girlfriend who’s been on holiday for a week. He helpfully informed me before the match ‘I’m not going to win tonight’ He duly stuck to his word.
A.Moore played well and dropped at every opportunity, knowing full well that Students’ movement was hampered by his back. A crushing defeat for Student, lets hope the physio can work some magic before next weeks match against the London boys.
JT Vs Will (No.3)
Missed most of this match, but according to FC, it was a hack fest. JT hadn’t played for 2 weeks and it showed as his game was littered with errors and loose drives. Will took advantage of this and hacked the ball to death and in the process gave Dulwich the win. JT did have a nice tan though, although not many people would have seen it as he sulked off straight after the match. Something to do with FC marking poorly.
El Capitano Vs Mark (No.5)
4 consecutive days of squash and break dancing left El Capitano feeling lethargic. Marks’ game was littered with tins and giving away strokes, and El Capitano comfortably won the first and second without breaking a sweat.
As is the norm though with El Capitano he underestimates his opponents. He took his foot of the gas and allowed Mark to force his way back into the match. He did just that and battled well to win the 3rd. It looked like Mark would take the 4th aswell as he went 8-4 up. El Capitano was wandering around looking disinterested. A couple of near misses with Marks’ racquet seemed to wake El Capitano up though and he somehow managed to claw his way back and win the match.
FC Vs J.Birkbeck (No.4)
Despite spending most of the weekend drinking and cavorting with the European ladies, FC looked fresh and up for this one. Didn’t see much of this match but as you can see by the scoreline, FC is finding life pretty easy at No.4.
FC is now going on an elimination diet to determine what is giving him allergic reactions. That means basically cutting out his whole diet of beer and curries, watch his weight plummet!
El Capitano (International Break-Dancer)
