Report: | Summer season here already, can't be.
Well AGFB certainly didn't think so. No players,no courts booked,no food arranged and Kim the Biggin Boss down the shops at 6pm to at least to sort the food problem out. Some other idiot would sort the rest!
What better way to start than to welcome our old mates the 'Sheffield United' of the Priory known to most as Cascades.
Now you may or may not recall the last visit from these lads ended with a great Village People rendition at Midnight followed by BBGB priming the vasalene jar for the long journey home in Mo's little Nova.
Well strangly enough Mo couldn't make it this time Hmmmm.
'So Village People last time, whats it going to be tonight' I asked. 'We thought we would come as a bunch of *ankers this time' replied BBGB.
Enough said.
Camp Ninja Deano v Steptoe Lake
Now I didn't see all of this one but the two games I did catch was a laugh a rally.
CND spent most of the time dragging Steptoe to all corners of the court until he could run no more,at which point CND would promptly tin the final kill.
CND blew the first in the above manner but managed to keep the ball up enough to close out the next two. The forth was memorable for two incidents. The first being a disputed serve which CND insisted was in only to be called out by Sicknote,Steptoe then looked to the gallery to get confirmation that the serve was actually in.Being the good sport he is Steptoe then served deliberatly out only then to be told by the gallery they were only joking the serve was definatly out.
The second 'moment' happened when after a long hard rally Steptoe finally had the chance to place a simple drop from the T to win the point at which point he turned round, stuck the racket through his legs and tried a reverse boast!
All that said some good squash in between with CND finally closing out the Match 3-1.
Audit Alex v Stu
This one didn't really get going with Audit on a mission and Stu not really getting out of the blocks. 3-0 to Audit in quick order.
Debt Collector v Big Burping Gay Bob
BBGB asked if he could just snatch a few points as this would make him happy, this I replied could be arranged if he restricted his bar intake to 6 pints of 1664. No problem he replied I'm saving the big uns for Park Langley!!
A good run out with DC taking it 3-0.
Laney v Mike
A game of two halves if ever there was one.
For the first two games Laney was totally out of sorts while Mike controlled the pace to perfection going 2-0 up and looking good.
At 3-0 down in the third, the red mist finally descended on Laney at which point I defy any man or beast to oppose this grizzling monster. Mike certainly was not about to try and promptly lost the next three games in short order.Self preservation was top of his priorities and rightly so.
Mighty Mac v Sicknote
Now last time these two played Sicknote pulled off a great win which I promptly reminded the Mac about before the start.
Seemed to have the right effect as the Mac was in no mood to take prisoners.
Sicknote was game throughout but this was in a clinical performance by the Mac who is revelling in his elevated slot on the team. On this performance it looks like a shrewd move by AGFB (First thing he's done right tonight!)
So a good start for the Hill Billys especially without their 'Stars'
Lots of good banter with the Cascades lads in the bar as always.
It was nice to see they have got over their relegation saga like true professionals. Only mentioned the issue about 20 times and once BBGB got into top gear all I can say is I'm glad I don't play for Park Langley! |
