Report: | BCC CEMENT 4TH POSITION
Still smarting from last weeks defeat at Biggin Hill – El Capitano sacrificed himself and named on paper his strongest side of the season. El Capitano was replaced by his brother James – otherwise it was as you were last week.
FC Vs Andy (No.5)
FC has been training regularly over the last few weeks, however in the 1st he looked distinctly distant. His line and length were awful and his drops made El Capitanos’ drops look good. Andy took no prisoners and despite the constant interruption of FC’s car alarm, wrapped up the 1st in no time at all.
A different FC turned up for the second. It took a couple of points for him to get the groove back, but eventually his hard running and good lengths began to get the better of Andy. 1-1
Something switched off in Andy’s head after the 2nd. FC just had to keep the ball up as Andy capitulated. FC won his 10th game of the season and gave BCC a 1-0 lead.
JT Vs John(No.4)
Didn’t see the early exchanges of this one – but it looked like JT was still asleep as John comfortably took the 1st and 3rd.
With this being a pivotal match, JT began to find his form and dominated John from the T. John was getting increasingly frustrated with King Lewys’ marking and he lost his cool to hand JT the fourth.
Into the 5th and JT was in full swing – driving John to the back and then dropping him at the front. Some long rallies ensued, but JT always had one more shot, and eventually held on to win 3-2, and yes you’ve guessed it on another controversial call from King Lewy. BCC 2-0
#3 Vs Rob(No.3)
Didn’t see any of this match but it was over in a flash as the score line suggests. Finally after much promise, #3 is winning regularly– and challenging El Capitano to move him up the order. BCC 3-0
Student Vs Dave (No.2)
Back from getting ‘Smashed’ all week in Shagaluf, the last thing Student need was a match against a rejuvenated Dave.
Struggling with fitness and a decent racquet, Student had no answer to Dave’s hard hitting as he lost the 1st for 0 points.
The game followed a similar pattern in the second with Dave controlling things from the front with a series of deceptive drives and some hard cross courts. Student was getting increasingly frustrated with himself and gave the poor marker a verbal bashing on a let call – (most unlike Student). #3 took over the reigns – but still nothing changed on court as Dave recorded one of his easier victories of the season. (At least student has promised to win the drinking competitions at the end of season BCC bash)
King Lewy Vs Ted The Lip(No.1)
King Lewy has been in marvellous form this season, and tonight’s performance gave the young pretender a lot to think about.
Still smarting from his early season loss to Ted, King Lewy set about making amends. Everything King Lewy hit was deep and tight to the back, Ted was getting frustrated with himself but in all honesty King Lewy was on form. He really had the bit between his teeth as he reeled off winner after winner – and in the process handing Ted his heaviest defeat of the season.
A good end of season win for BCC – and it sets them up nicely for next week’s trip into Dulwich.
With 4th already secured, each player still has a lot to play for – especially if they want to avoid those nasty forfeits come the end of the season.
