| Report: | A very important week for both teams with defeat meaning almost certain relegation and names missing in both teams.
First up Nick and ian,Fat boy started this one well(thats nick) moving in cutting Ian off leading 6-1. Ian came back pushing Fatboy into the corners and forceing him to make mistakes and the game 10-8. A little coaching from captain Andy got Nick back in the match game level 1-1.Nick a little court rusty and unable to finish a rally let Ian lead in both the next two and give Dulwich the match 1-3.
On the other court Dangerman V Will .
Didnt see very much of this as marking Nick on court 4 but looking at the scores will working hard in the first to take it 6-9. The next three Dave got the power going taking will for 6 points and leveling the match 1-1.Good effort Will but Oldboy Harris was too strong.
Super Kid Teddyboy Jeal V A.Moore.
Ted taking his time getting going in this one with Andy taking a 5-2 lead with some steady squash,at 6-6 Ted took his chances and pushed home the first.
Into the second and Andy stepping on the gas and retrieving well going 7-1 up but this time Ted not getting a lookin instead enjoying the fans in the gallery.At this point the noise of Teddies gang was so loud half the bar had come to see what was causing the riot.On with the third and a very tight game both working hard in the heat Andy taking it at the first chance.With some team talk from superman headcoach Harris the fourth saw Ted take control and capitalize on Andys recovery from the third.
Match 2-2 and the fifth was greeted from the fan base,bar, members, tennis section,badminton team, gardner, priory comm, and anyone who could find a seat.This last game had it all,great pick-ups and great lengths Ted having a little more left in the tank taking the game 9-4.Have to say Andy Moore is the Dark horse in this league and it took the Dark horse to beat him.
Court 4 Lazerboy Rob V Ian.
We had Ian down as a 3-0 win in short time for this one- Lazerboy had different ideas.
Hard hitting Ian took the first from behind .Rob took the second from behind.Ian took the third from behind. All three games 9-7 2-1 Ian. This match could go anyway. the fourth saw the same fashion 10-9 but this time the scores level all the way. Ian finishing well- win 3-1 Rob deserved more from this match deffo his best performance of the season.
Captain A V Jeremy.
Match decider the crowds in good voice, gallery packed all other matches finised 10 oclock -hot-sticky 3rd team 4th team Dulwich- Dartford -proiry comm, all watching no pressure Captain Andy you can do it!
After last weeks win at Bexley Captain Andy was up for this,never played Jeremy before but was informed by Garfield(harris) this guy is a runner just what i needed (not).
First game even all the way J sneaking it 9-7. change of game on the Harris command 9-2 to J(i think that was wrong dave) Into the third crowd pushing me on again a vchange of tactic power power power 9-3 Andy, (that worked dave) The fourth was a great battle j taking a good lead 7-0 ,but Andy pushed and got it back only for J to close it out 9-3 3-1 match and the Dulwich Win.
A win needed for langley 2 to have any chance of staying up this season, Dulwich now have a good lead in points and look like staying in div1.
A great night of squash and fair play from both sides with fantastic spectators. Thankyou to all who came to langley towers. |
