Report

Report:J-P Winter (Dul) vs John G (K) 3-0
Newly crowned captain Jon-Paul Winter led by example with a decisive straight-set victory. The king is dead; long live the king!

Ed Davey (Dul) vs Chris M (K) 3-0
The first balmy evening of the season made for a very fast court. Ed was able to take the first two games whilst Chris struggled to find his length. By the third Chris had tightened his game right up and Ed had to do a lot of running to keeping him from getting his foot in the door.

Jack Burgess (Dul) v Jerry S (K) 2-3
Depending on your age, this was either a salutory or cautionary example of experience triumphing over youth. In a close contest with many exciting rallies, Jack took the first two games but lacked the stamina to finish the job against Jerry who looked strong to the end. A rare 5 set defeat for the youngster.

Ed Knox (Dul) v Tom C (K) 3-0
In his second outing for Dulwich, ex-Cumberland player Ed Knox took his first victory for Dulwich. This match had some marathon rallies and amazing recoveries by Tom who almost took the third but was unable to keep Ed at bay despite a couple of game balls.

Andrew Dawes (Dul) v Chris S (K) 1-3
Some impressive squash here. In his debut for Dulwich, new member Andrew took the first, but Chris increasingly got the feel of the Dulwich courts and showed us some shots for which there could be little answer.

Thanks to the travellers for a good match and thanks to JP for a slap-up supper.

Thanks to you too, Dul. So surprised by the heat that, having been burned on court, I burned my mouth on the pie for pud. We have cold at Knole. See you there.
