Report: | Ross (touretts) played first against Cathy. Ross displayed some exceptional self control in keeping his swearing to an absolute minimum but unfortunately was finally beaten by the flu and had to retire after the second game. His father (PM to his friends) unlike his son displayed no ill effects from gagins stag weekend away and notched up the first win for Freds.
Matt still battling back from a long lay off and a long weekend away with the wife failed to find the fitness required to dispatch his opponent. 2-1 to Beckenham
Gaging fresh from his stag weekend took on the streamlined Geoff and was the bookies favourite to win. Geoff took the first two with his silky racket skills but looked to be tiring rapidly. Gagin put the loss of his first two games down his eyes watering (something to do with jumping off of a bar football table and landing legs astride one of the handles on Friday night, we would have helped him off if only we could have stopped laughing) Gagin pulled the next game back but failed to find his form in the fourth and Geoff took the match. So much for survival of the fittest and all that.
The dead rubber was Dave P, drinking more and sleeping less than anyone else at the weekend; surely he couldn't win at one. After a marathon first game Dave took the next 9-0 to go two ahead. An enthralling third game saw Dave take the match 3-0 leaving him only 45 minutes to attack the Freds Becks supply.
KP next week and with Dave P knowing their Bar Policy (shutting it before the match finishes, nice one JJ) has elected to go to Portugal for the week where the bars stay open a little longer.
With injuries and holidays meaning a weakened side will travel to KP it looks as if we may finish in time for a beer or even two!
