| Report: | A gruelling night for both teams!!
Ross and Lee at five played out a hard fought match. At 2-1 up Lee looked to be cruising. A change of tactics was needed for Ross to stay in the match. Departing from his normal tin bashing game proved to be a success and took the next two games for victory.
Jack at 3 looked to be playing well on the other court but Daniel, suffering from shin splints, had to retire at 2 – 0 down.
John and Peter played like two gladiators, neither wishing to relinquish their right to the T. It was more like real life battling tops (those under 35 won’t understand that one) with players bouncing off all over the place and attempting to call lets on “taxis”. Peter having found the canvas once got up to take a 2-1 lead. Halfway though the fourth he started hopping round the court having pulled his hamstring and had to retire. A slow motion replay showed that there was no foul play and Freds took a 2-1 lead in the match.
Matt dispatched the injured Tony (another Hamstring problem) in three to take the match leaving the two Daves to play out the dead rubber at 1. With Dave P winning in three. A very much needed victory for Freds who now move off of the bottom within one point of KP.
Fortunately for Bexley wounded Freds had a stair lift so they were able to join the celebrations in the bar.
