Report

Report:Another routine thrashing for the KP merry men.

Biggest excitement of the night; a call from Dulwich to say they were very late. Unfortunately enough arrived to fill a quorum before KP were able to claim any points; even though the Dulwich bus managed to key in a Westerham post code to their satnav.

Knole - after the roasting in the Dulwich oven in the away leg - had left the heating off and all the windows and doors open. It was enough to gain the home players about three points a game before the visitors adapted to the strange conditions.

3rd, 4th & 5th strings were 3-0 drubbings for the Knole tailenders. Mark managed 14 points, with John next on 13 and Chris last with 12. Mark felt that, with slightly colder courts, he might have managed to win one game though. We will never know.

Chris S-B at 2 gave a relaxed (chilled?) Jake a bit of a fright in the second game, running around like a Dervish and scraping balls off the deck to frustrate an impatient Jake. So much so, that Jake was moved to question some of the pick-ups. He obviously hadn't heard that Knole is a gentleman's club; only gamesmanship is therefore permitted in our hallowed courts.

Chris & Matt provided some entertainment to round off the evening. Chris managed to disguise his remaining lack of ring readiness with some clever shot making until the middle of the second game, when he relaxed to much. After that, Matt seemed more interested in winning the wet t-shirt contest for a game and a half. Perhaps it was the pressures of captaincy, in the absence of J-P (deselected?). Anyway, apart from a few points in the middle of the 4th, Chris seemed to regain his control. Both players gave everything and were probably glad not to have to play the fifth.

Knole stay just above Freds - but will have to get wins down the order if they are to stave off the plunge.
