Report

Report:As usual, PL turned up with four players. Since the top three were out of binocular range, the motivation levels were perhaps a notch below normal, but still, an attempt to finish as well as possible wouldn't go amiss.

First on were Adam Rich and Ash Taleb. Not a lot of love lost in this one I have to say! Adam started reasonably well, but as the games progressed it became apparent that the shoulder injury had affected his new found court discipline, with the too many boasts routine creeping in. After a stern talking to he got it back on track, and Ash started to make a few mistakes.

All set up for a grandstand finish. Adam went 6-1 up in the 5th only for Ash to get it back to 7-7. Adam just about managed to close it out for a good win, before the pair marched off for a friendly drink and some good natured banter (not).

Whilst this fun was going on Matt Gill was battling away with Tony Lake on the other court. This was a pretty tight match. Matt started off like a demon, Tony turned it round in the 2nd. The 3rd proved to be the turning point. Matt got to 8-6 up but then couldn't close it out, losing the last two points to strokes hit back at himself.

Despite Matt battling hard for the 4th Tony wrapped up a good win.

So, it was all down to the Londons. Stewart Lamprell was ultra-keen to play Steve again (not sure whether this was to capitalise on his first half win or to get away from the old man but still ...).

I didn't see this match but by all accounts Steve got into his stride early and had Stewart running around to all four corners, exacting his revenge in some style.

Meanwhile Clive and Mo Soliman took to the other court. Mo took the initiative, winning the first thanks to some good shots and Clive's mistakes.

Clive turned it round, winning the 2nd in similar fashion. The 3rd and fourth were very tight, with Clive just managing to squeeze through in each.

So, finishing on a win was good especially with four players. BBGB looked to be on fairly restrained form this evening. Perhaps he had a pint too many of the "off" Fosters.

Onwards and upwards for the Cup and then the summer.
