Report: | BCC needed to win this to maintain second place after letting there chance at the top slip away last week at Tunbridge Wells Sports.
First on was Big Andy
Big Andy V Monty (Menjit)
Big Andy felt good after team training the night before but..... decided to beat the c**p out of the ball cos it felt good, engaging brain would have been a better idea. Monty was, as always, scampering aroung the court getting everything you could throw at him, frustrating to say the least. A few doggy calls from Dave, after he deposed our marker who already had pen in hand, probably trying to impress the new bird, saw Big Andy 2-0 down. Coach was away so Graham Edwards stepped into the breach and offered some well need advice, Big Andy took the next 9-7. Monty however kept grinding away and took the next and the match 3-1.
Bruiser V John
I didn't see any of this game but it sounds like Bruiser played the game John wanted and fittness played a part to see Bruiser go down 1-3.
Tricky V Simon
This was always going to be a tough one for Simon. Straight from the golf course.....again!! Tricky took the first game to get his eye in and went 1-0 up and this must have taken it out of Simon because Tricky took the next two with shear pace of ball and speed around the court, 3-0 to Tricky.
Dutch Prodigy V Dave
Big Andy marked this one and what a match, on paper Dave shouldn't have got too many points but!
This was only the second outing for Dutch this season due to a blosoming cricket career, not, however leather on willow and all that b******s doesn't do anything for your fittnes or match practice! Dutch won the first two and we thought the third was going to be a cruise, Dave had different ideas though, more impressing going on here I think, and came out all guns blazing, dug in for every point while Dutch decided to have a little knap. Dave brought it back to 2-2. Both players a bit tired now the fith was a real nail biter going to 8-8 with Dave calling 1 hmmmmmm..... not the best decision, Dutch took the fith and the match 3-2. Best I've seen Dave play for a long time, great match.
Last on and for the macth
Smiler V Paul
Saw little of the gamebut by all accounts Smiler cruised the first two to go 2-0 up, but you can never count Paul out and true to form his guile and tenacity saw him take the 3rd. Smiler had to do some thinking now and ground out the next to take the score to 8-8, Paul called 1, this must be what they do down at Waterfront, Smiler new this was his chance and took it and the match 3-1.
A good win lads!!
Man of the match, a tough one this week, for the first time one of the opotion is up for it. Dave Lewis, best I've seen him play but.... naaaaah can't give it to the away team so Smiler for securing the match.
