| Report: | Cascades turned out without their number 2 and 3 to face Tonbridge's full team and paid the price.
For once Cascades managed to get to the club early and "The Brewer" volunteered to go on first. The first few rallies looked like this was going to be a long one - but once Brewer got into his stride his opponent started to lose confidence in their shots and it was all but over.
Next on was Stimpson, putting aside his management hat once again to fill in at number 5. After a good start, his lack of game play showed through and he was beaten in straight games.
Fatboy Lamprell left his baby sitter at home to jump on court and may have wished he had saved himself the money as he was also beaten in straight games.
Sicknote was next playing Jolie who was still smiling over taking a game off Tim Garner last week....Sicknote seemed to show a momentary glimpse of what he might me like healthy and uninjured and took the first game. Having spent the break wondering how this happened, he felt on more familiar ground once Jolie took the second. However, some long rallies and a few mistakes on Jolie's part meant Sicknote snatched a surpise victory at 2.
The final match was Steptoe Lake against Andy Ward. Having not played for the team yet this season, Lake took 2 games to brush off the cobwebs before taking the next 2, leaving a nail-biting finish for both sides. Unfortunately, old age and lack of game play left Steptoe struggling to even stand up in 5th and he went down a very valiant 3-2.
Good friendly squash all round...leaving Cascades looking forward to the rematch! |
