Report: | A new year and a new start etc etc but some things never change.
The Sly Fox can just not quite bring himself down the straight and narrow when it comes to that Hillbilly fixture.
I can just picture him squatting in his little den thinking 'What can I do this time to try and get a result against those inbreds on the Hill'
'I know, I'll go to the army, recruit an SAS fitness freak, get him in for one game then send him back to the Brecon Beacons next morning to continue with his selection training'
And so this was the case, enter 'George' never been seen before and apparently never to be seen again but bugger me he just happened to be around this week!
First up:
Fazzy v 'George'
Only saw a few rallies of this one with SAS George giving a good account of himself but he was up against the Faz who's speed around court was quite frankly breathtaking.
3-0 to the Faz in pretty quick order.
Didn't get a chance to meet George,he was back into his army greens and off.
A Good Few Beers v Dave
Only saw three rallies of this one as well (why am I doing these bloody reports, I never seem to see any of the games!)
Looking at the scorelines, the games seemed to sway one way or the other pretty quickly except the fifth which was a very tight affair culminating at 7-7 with an absolute gut buster of a rally which left both players blowing out of all bodily exit holes !
As predicted by Beverley Hills Rent Boy,Dave went for a short winner which he got taking him to match ball which he took at the first instance after some desperate retrieving by AGFB.
Debt Collector v Sly Fox
This one went on for almost as long as the five setter above but with two games less.
Sly Fox I am told was very much up for this one after our little run around at Langley Towers in the break which resulted in DC sneaking a win 10-9 in the fifth.
But this is Tuesday night Priory and no friendly banter or polite lets on this night.
First game was nip and tuck with both players making sure Camp Ninja was on his toes in the ref chair. DC sneaked it 10-8. Next two games again where pretty tight with both players asking and giving no quarter. DC wrapped things up 3-0 but the Sly one gave a strong account of himself. He seems to have got a little more cockey and up himself since the hunting ban came in. Think I'll reverse my opinion on hunting if the debate comes up again ! Well played mate,a good scrap.
Mighty Mac v Ted
Not to much to say on this one, Gordy looked a bit rusty and Ted apparently was bored with the quality of opposition (should have played at one sunshine)
Usual conduct warning to Ted for swearing at the marker (DC) but whats new.
3-0 to Ted.
Camp Ninja Deano v Matt
No sign of a working boast, a subtle lob or a well weighted drop shot, this was your original hack fest which can only be matched by two other players in the League.(Dan Lark and Slack)
First game was blasted into oblivion by CND with a roll reversal in the second to Matt.
The third was a very tight affair (only in the score) with some very awkward calls having to be made by AGFB on ref duty.
One amusing incident in this one with DC having to give AGFB a conduct warning for telling CND to *uck off after he debated a call. First time I've seen Deano lost for words and funnily enough he never questioned another call all night. Think I might try that tactic on Ted.
CND finally sneaked the third after a no let decision against Matt. Matt didn't to his credit go too ballistic after seeing the abuse dished out to CND earlier. However it was still playing on Matts mind going into the fourth as he seemed to lose concentration with CND killing things off 9-0.
So a hard fought win for the Hillbillies and the Sly one off to work on plan Z.
Got to go now as there's some bloke abseiling down the side of my house dressed in black overalls with a sub machine gun. What's that all about then !
