Report: | A visit from a full strength Tunbridge squad (suprise, suprise) with Street in support meant the Hillbillies had to be on their toes with a change in rotation.
Out went CND and Laney with AGFB tom and dick with a chest infection.
Back in were Sperm Whale and DC.
First up:
Mighty Mac v Andy
Get this one out of the way as I didn't see a single shot.
I'm told by CND that MM was still in great form and wrapped things up 3-0 in pretty quick order.
Debt Collector v Steve
Very tight game this one.
Steve got out of the blocks quickly going into a 6-0 lead before DC started to find some range and drag things back to 7-7. A couple of loose shots from Steve in the next two rallies allowed DC to nick the first.
The second was was perfect from DC's point of view playing tight length and width with Steve forced into errors.9-3 to DC.
At 5-0 in the third DC seemed to be on course for a good win but Steve kept working very hard, stepping up taking the ball early. Before DC knew it in a couple of hands Steve took the third 9-5.
The fourth saw Steve in full stride taking 6-2 and 8-3 leads but DC hung in and cut out the mistakes. This time it was Steve starting to make more errors as the points score got tighter.
9-9 and things very tight but Steve made two crucial errors at the death to give DC a good win.
Tough match for both players but all done in a good sporting manner.
Dark Destroyer v Tim.
Total contrast in styles, Tim showing some lovely touch shots at the front and DD picking up loads of winners he had no right to get.
DD took a cagey first but Tim responded hitting somme fantastic nick kills to wrap up the second 9-1.
Into the third and DD hitting a far better length and width not allowing Tim time on the ball or to volley. 9-0 to DD.
Fourth was pretty much the same as the third and a good win for DD.
First time I've seen Tim and if Street can get him to play on a regular basis he will win more than he loses at one.
Alex Whale v James
What a contrast in shape between these two. Sperm Whale retaining a fair amount of blubber whilst you will see more meat on a butchers hook than you will on James.
With what I saw of this one, it always looked like James would run out a comfortable winner but all credit to Sperm Whale, he kept digging deep coming back with some great kills to keep himself in touch.
Finally in the fifth, James seemed to get a grip on proceedings going into a 6-2 the 8-4 lead but things stayed on edge with seversl hand outs at 8-6 before James got over the finishing line with a tight backhand drop.
A good match which SW should take a lot of encouragement from. I struggle to think of a better number three in this division than James.
Beverley Hills Rent Boy v Joleyn (spelling ?)
Well now, what can I say about this one.
I think most people would agree,Joleyn is no mean player but last night he was taken out like a terrorist on the wrong end of an SAS double tap.
A very clinicle, neat and tidy performance by BHRB with only one point dropped.
Still that's one point more than BHRB scored last Sunday in the Sussex league !
Sorry mate,couldn't resist.
A very pleasing result for the Hillbillies, we would certainly have taken 19 points before the start of this one.
Looking forward to the rotation for next week, no way DC can be dropped on his performance last night. |
