Report

Report:Apologies for lateness and speed of this report due to pressing engagements.
Apologies all the more relevant as this match deserves the full monty.
I think anyone who was there would agree the Priory has never seen a night like it.
What was all the more pleasing was the fact that yes there were two top guns playing but it was the regular club grafters who stole the limelight and created high drama for pretty much the whole evening culminating in the final match ending at 11.45.
First up:

AGFB v Duncan
Only saw one game but I understand the rest was pretty much the same.
Lots of cagey rallies, lets, bit of blocking and an all round tense affair.
AGFB always seemed to have enough in the locker but never had a chance to relax as Duncan was prepared to fight until he dropped. 3-1 to AGFB.

Farzan v Daryl
Late withdrawal by Tim meant world 33 stepped in as the Dulwich 'reserve' (and people say the Hillbillies buy their wins!)
Personally I think it's great that people like Daryl appear in our league whether their paid or play for the Hill or not as the case may be.
Didn't see a single rally because the viewing gallery was jam packed.
Hand Jive tells me the quality and speed of the rallies was unbelievable. Daryl being the top pro he is kept things under control and wrapped up a comfortable 3-0 win.

Rory v Clive
Did see this one but you couldn't afford to blink.
Seen Clive a few times now and he is a quality number two but in Rory he was up against a young lad in another class. Everything retrieved and when the chance arose the ball was constantly slammed in the Nick.3-0 to Rory.

Slimmer sperm whale v Andy.
Don't have enough time to do this one credit only to say Andy played like his life depended on it and simply would not give in. A truly outstanding performance to swing the momentum back to Dulwich.

Mighty Mac v Will
If the last match had high drama, this one equalled it and possibly had more. By this stage of the evening (11pm) the noise from the gallery was unbelievable as the players got stuck in.
MM going 2-0 up in games before Will took a leaf out of Andys book and the fightback was on.
Back to 2-2 and both players mixed great shots with nerve stricken errors which did no favours for the blood pressure of the supporters.
Finally Will reached match point and took it at the second attempt which just about lifted the roof off the club.

A really outstanding night of squash and a huge WELL DONE to the Dulwich boys who thoroughly deserved their victory.

Only down side for me was the ridiculas bar bill the Hill players had to pick up after someone obviously had a good evening at our expense (and I certainly do not aim that comment at any of the players as they had pretty much bugger all) So who ever it was, hope you enjoyed the free drinks as much as the squash. Shame our hospitality had to be abused but there's always someone.
Hope everyone has a good Christams/New year, look forward to the second half.
