Report

Report:Oh Dear Cascades and well played to Tunbridge!...Cascades suffer a little as Brewer trains for the marathon and Stuart flies off to New York leaving the team weakened...

First up was Mo and Matt. Mo looked focused on the task for a change and this quickly settled into a quality exchange of shots and rallies. At one all, this looked like being anybodies game, although Mo was working unusually hard to stay in it. The second game tiebreak swinging against Mo really decided it with Matt showing great consistency to steal a solid win.

Next up was Mike and Steve with Mike stepping in for the absence of Stuart at the last minute (having already played!). Although Mike managed a few rallies and still showed real style at times, this was a bit of a one sided affair with Steve always able to push that bit harder. Mike ran out of steam in the 3rd and Steve made it 2-0!

Steptoe and Andy on next - the old v the young! Tony shoed real skill and is clearly playing well at the mo, but Andy just seemed a little to fit and fast at the end of long rallies. Tony went down a brave 3-1 after a quality match.

Joly seemed determined to get his own back from the start on this one, proving too fast and strong for Ash in the first two games. After a change of tactics from Ash, the third and even fourth looked in the bag...However, a couple of errors and greater consitency by Joly gave Tunbridge a 4-0 lead! A good humoured and thoroughly enjoyable match.

Luckily, Cascades had their new No 1 (Baker) ready to turn things around. A greate display of shot playing, consistency and general determination, gradually ground Tim down, at least saving a little pride for Cascades.

Overall, Tunbridge did what they need to do in the second half of the season and rightly made Cascades pay for a weaker side down the order. Good food and conversation - a loss but a good night!
