Report: | ...a match report promised from Mr Steeden so I'll just say well played T.Wells.
Enjoyable evening and hope to see you in Div 1 next year!!!
As promised captain slack ......
On travelling to the match I was listening to Chris Evans on Radio 2 and a regular feature “you’ll never out fox the fox”, got me thinking, maybe the only thing to out fox a fox would be a sly fox. Has he out foxed himself?.
A strange night at team Bexley, for some reason both teams wanted Tunbridge Wells to win, how bizarre?
After much consultation it was decided that Bexley should play in the correct order and not give TW a walkover, that would just be wrong and unsporting like.
First up New kit Harrison vs Gentleman Tim. A short affair, with Tim winning 3-0 in double quick time, Duane did look nice though with his figure hugging kit.
On the other court, Captain Slack vs Jolyon, On paper this had 5 games and two hours written all over it. 5 games and two hours later captain slack wins 3-2, although I was marking next door I did catch a few rallies in between games, I think I remember seeing a drop as well, Slack claimed after that he had found his squash brain whilst playing, heaven help us all!
Next up Steph (I didn’t read the script) Brind vs Andy, A superb array of boasts and drops from all over the court from Steph, a lot of running from Andy. A 3-0 comfortable win for Steph.
Next on, one racket Steeden vs Matt (I’ve been to Kent once before) Holland, A good start for Matt, I think one racket was on court but not sure, 9-0 to Matt. Next game was more like proper squash with Mark taking it levelling at 1-1. At the start of the 3rd one racket became no racket as he broke his (not in a fit of rage but with a sweetly hit shot off the middle of the racket), thus begins the search for another racket, for the 3rd It was Duane’s with his tiny grip, 2-1 to Matt, in the 4th it was Captain Slacks racket, right size grip but for some reason the ball kept returning to the striker (I can’t believe that Slack hits the ball straight with this racket!) 3-1 to Matt, and straight onto the internet to find new rackets for Thursday match for Steeden.
Last up was the better Matt vs James, James was in no mood for a long game and moved Matt well to take a 3-0 victory.
So a deserved 3-2 victory for Tunbridge Wells who bought some travelling support as well. Good banter and much talk of the shenanigans going on in div 1 priory.
