Report: | First match on, Keith and Adam.
Didn't see much of this, I was only playing it. Unfortunately Adam hurt his back in the 3rd and effectively had to retire.
Ryan and Nick
Neither player could be described as orthodox or conventional but that doesn't mean they can't play. Some tight, well fought rallies, but in the end perhaps Nick tried to hard to counter Ryan's speed around court and let a few errors creep in. And since Knole Park two weeks ago, Ryan has learnt what a boast is and what a drop is.
Martin and Trevor
Trevord appeared to be moving better and for longer than of late and at times matched Martin, who wasn't quite on his game ( feeling a little sickly ). But in the second game Trevor felt his hamstring pull badly and had to retire.
Two injured players for Park Langley.
Ian versus Darren
easily the best quality match of the evening. Very good drives, drops, boasts, the lot. Lots of tooing and froing in the score and a long match in the making. At 1 game all, Darren also pulled his hamstring and was unable to continue. And then admitted that he and Trevor had played on Sunday and both felt a twinge then. c'est la vie.
Tom versus Andrew
Andrew had had a very hard game of doubles on Saturday against the famous ( infamous ) Willmor brothers. Followed by a 5 setter on Monday night. It showed, he was phsically and mentally tired and could only compete with Tom in a few rallies.
Trevor claimed today is his birthday ( does he say this every Tuesday ? ) and so we all sang to him and he blew out a candle ( and a lot lot more ) on the cake after the meal. Aaaahh.
Park langley 3 had a bad night and now have several walking wounded, or in Darren's case, hobbling. |
