Report: | The Men of Dulwich strong and true faced their ultimate test against promotion rivals Bexley in this play off for promotion. If Dulwich could win 5-0 and not let Bexley get to 5 points promotion, it seems is guaranteed. Both teams were very nervous before the match and many a brow was mopped as Ian Armtsrong and Dave Thompson renewed their trickle boast perpetual motion battle. Armstrong contra to any laws of physics played 4 drop shots this upsetting the Hawkins mathematical trikle boast equation and pulled out a 3-1 win for the home team. JBB then encountered Mr Sellery whose style was so laid back I thougt he might have a sleep during the match. Birkbeck bond had to utilise all his many years worth of experience to nick a serve in the 5th to lead 8-7 and with both players knackered JBB won 3-2 with his customary 3-2ness. Matt K tired and emotional after the birth of his new baby thrashed Mr Breen 3-0. Andy Dawes was far too good for Mr Prowse who did fight valiantly but lost to Dawsey 3-0. With Dulwich 4-0 in rubbers the last match retained optimum interest with a win by Andy Claudet 3-1 meaning that Dulwich 2s won the tie by 20-4 thus according to NASA's bid Blue computer guaranteeing the home teams promotion. An unbeleivable evening for Duliwch 2s and a proud moment for Ian Ross Griffin who has captained the team this year and has lead the 2s after a promotion year last winter when the 2s were promoted from the 3rd division to the 2nd and now have been promoted to the 1st division. An exceptional performance all round,
All I can say is COME ON!!!!! AND come on the 1st team.
Bexley took the defeat well and a fine roast pork dinner was enjoyed by all. As this is likely to be my last home game as 2nd team captian all I can say is well played Bexley, Well done to my team for a fantastic season - lets try for the league next week; my name is Ian Ross Griffin - Over and out IRG. |
