| Report: | Chris & Gary were first off the mark and kept us guessing. Chris seemed to move into overhauling mode but Gary came back strongly in the 5th. Ray meanwhile could not avoid giving Paul opportunities to show off his straight drives that got lower and harder as the match progressed. The next two tussles were great fun. Miles & John obviously use the same sports psychologist and never gave up. Peter tended to win a percentage game with lob & serve but was let down by errant returns and poor drops, John moving faster around the court to pick these up. Miles took Mark all the way with endless retrieval but a tired Mark had the tighter shots by the end. In what seemed the small hours, Brian dominated John from the start with his tight boasts that kept the rallies short. Well worth the long trip to TW, rounded off by the usual excellent hospitality. |
