Report: | Cobdown struggled to put a team out for this match and the result wasn't entirely unexpected, but well done to TW for taking the much needed victory.
DJ was out of sorts for this one, maybe the weight of the cabbage shirt is playing on his mind. He never really got into this one and too many loose shots enabled Gary to take full advantage and gain a comfortable win playing some nice squash in the process.
A sterling effort from BB on his enforced return from illness proved not to be enough against an opponent who was fired up for the win. Long rallies proved to be his downfall and before the end every orifice was in use! A hard fought 5 set match went the way of Gary with BB just about hanging on to the finish.
Ken came on board at the last minute for this one and the game against Jeremy proved to be a clash of two very unusual styles. Both players looked bemused at the shots their opponent was playing and this kept the gallery entertained as well. Another 5 set match which jeremy did well to come back from 2-1 down to gain the win.
Phil v Miles proved to be a fairly one sided match with Phil seeming to have the match of his opponent. Miles retrieved well and on occaision produced some fine shots to take the 2nd. Phil kept his cool and had Miles covering all of the court before finsihing off the rallies with fine drops/lobs. A fine 3-1 win
FYB v Brendan were last up with the match already decided. Brendan never really got going in this one and the magnet in the ball that sucked FYB's lobs into the back corner nicks proved to be decisive as well as driving Brendan mad! A straight forward 3-0 for the big guy before heading off for the Harveys.
Fine beer and food finsihed off the evening in style. |
