| Report: | After a rather later start for which Bromley apologizes, Gary D and Jon got down to some seriously long rallies. Unfortunately for Gary, his legs couldn't sustain the effort and the match tipped towards the younger, fitter man. Talking of which, the other Gary made his opponent wish he had faster legs. Powerful drives and useful drops led him towards a fairly easy victory. Meanwhile Kevin found his delicate drop-shot, so he told me, and Paul L had as torrid a time at 3 as I had at 5. Paul W and Brendan had a major tussle at 1 that saw some excellent squash. When Brendan seemed to be slipping back he responded with a series of precision boasts that, as in the first game, provided a string of points for which Paul had no answer. The other Ford kept us guessing, as John ran down anything loose - and lots more besides. The final result was a fair reflection of the games and the hoped-for return victory eluded Bromley once more. |
