Report: | Woe, woe and thrice woe! PL crash again. This was a real display of end of season ennui. The usual failure to come up with anything resembling a full side set PL up for a good night (not). Still, looking on the bright side, TW seem to have struggled even more than us on this front to date.
The match got under way with Ross against Big Kev. Didn't see any of this one as I was on the other court, but Boysies comments afterwards seemed to sum up the match - "I lost my rag a bit and gave up at the end". Still, it looked like a close first two games judging from the scores.
Paul v Clive on the dazzlingly refurbished court. Your truly off to a good start (despite last night's marathon against Steeden). 2-0 and 7-3 up and then - well I don't know really. Paul kept his head down and did what he needed to do. Clive didn't. Same pattern in the 4th. 6-1 up then off came the wheels again. Some (many) may say this was another money's worth job, but it wasn't meant to be. Clive eventually managed to get a lead and keep it in the final game to come out on top.
Steve was now dragged away from the Barca v Chelsea match to play Cliff. After a good start by Steve, Cliff got into his stride and made good use of all four corners as Steve struggled to maintain his form. The coaching staff's best efforts were to no avail this week. Cliff played some tight squash, moving well round the court to come through 3-1.
In the absence of a PL number 5, the last match on was Street v Andy. Andy being promoted up the order somewhat, obviously didn't suffer too badly from altitude sickness. He came out all guns blazing. A dazzling range of overhead and drop shot nicks and his trademark early anticipation shots left Street reeling until 8-1 up in the 3rd.
At around this point, the hamstring tweak of a couple of weeks ago reappeared and Street looked to be reeling him in after getting back to 8-8. Andy then (fortunately for PL) managed a final push to squeeze through. Since Andy was going to have to concede the match if it had gone to a 4th game, this was just as well.
All in all, not one of PL's better nights.
One week left to find a team to try and follow Bexley's exploits and rub pretty boy's face in the dirt. Looking like a tall order frankly.
