Report

Report:PL almost at full strength but to no avail. Dulwich came down with the big guns for this one.

Things started off brightly for PL with JEJ rolling back the years with a masterly performance for the first two games against Tim. I could only semi see what was going on since I was marking the match on the next court, but Tim was being sent to all corners. The effort had obviously taken its' toll on JEJ though. With JEJ having narrowly lost the 3rd Tim continued the play with his usual endless athleticism whilst JEJ looked to be toiling. The next two games were polished off by Tim to square things up in the match.

Whilst this was going on, next door saw Culver v Moore.
Simon totally dominated this match. He had the answer to everything Andy could throw at him, displaying phenomenal court coverage with little apparent effort. Obviously his participation in the recent squash tour to Germany included some squash as well as drinking (amongst many other misdemeanours judging by the talk in the bar afterwards).

Following on from the above match - London snr v Browsdon.
Where to start ... From the author's point of view this was a woeful performance. Out-dropped by the man with (supposedly) no short game! Will displayed his usual tenacity, running down everything and dominating the majority of the rallies. The author really had no answers on the day. Every opportunity for a winner was put into the tin, and the only reason a game was pouched was that Will went temporarily to sleep when 7-4 up in the 3rd. Dire.

Next door, London jnr v Barry.
Only saw the 3rd game of this. From what I can gather and from what I saw, this was a much tighter game than the scoreline would suggest. The rallies were well contested (and very long). Jason maintained a very high degree of consistency, missing very little, and hitting almost everything to a good length and width - as expected. Steve on the other hand let a few too many mistakes creep in particularly whilst going short.

So, 3-1 to Dulwich and Bonner v Grinnel on last.
Most people seemed to have melted off to the showers by this stage. I saw a bit of this one. Andy, on the way back from another of his seemingly endless catalogue of injuries battled away gamely. Some nice shots as usual, plus a sprinkling of mistakes. Ben ground away, and seemed to have the answer to most of the questions asked of his game. All games fairly even with Ben winning all three.

Dulwich a bit too strong on the night. Maybe one of these days we'll be able to get a result against them, but I'm not holding my breath.
