Report:Rodmersham (not enough) Home Grown Talent

Late in but I knew the Fantasy Squash was more important then my inept reporting skills. So it was of to depth's of Rodmersham. First on was Stacy (Da NEW BOSS) Ross vs John (Marathon Man) Brewer. Now John only found out about this match after completing a 10K run that afternoon so fitness might have been a key Issue. The game started of with some quality squash but Da NEW BOSS was always in control. The second saw a few difficult decisions that John didn't feel went his way. Stacy disagreed and it all got a bit fruity for a while. Stacy closed the game out then having nearly finned it of in the third the floor gave way. No replacement court and Marathon Man “On a Promise” the game was conceded.

On the other court Rory (Focused) Pennell had taken the first 9-0 against Graham (So nearly) Harraway. The second looked to be going the same way but at 2-0 Graham got a point, this game became very close and though Graham got a few games balls Rory took it 9-8. This looked to knock the wind out of Graham's sails and Rory took the 3rd 9-3.

With no other court till 8:40 Neil (Is it right?) Hitchens followed on against Malcolm (Sat Nav) Parker. Now Rory was really looking forward to getting his revenge on Malcolm after the first half match but with Gordon pulling out it was left to his good mate Neil to Inflict some revenge. Some revenge was inflicted. 9-0, 9-0 and then 6-0 up in the third. To Malcolm's defence the rallies had been mostly long tightly contested but Neil always game out on top so to speak. Malcolm got a point, everyone cheered, and he promptly lost.

On the back court Stacy was marking Mark (How good?) Lennox against Tom (nick, nick) Woods. Didn't see any of this, but Tom had taken Gordon apart in the home leg so I was expecting a close match. Marks must have just been to tight and retrieved to much for Toms liking and took a fairly comfortable 3-0 win.

It was only 21:30 so an early night looked on the cards but it was not to be as on went Dean (Lethargic) Newberry verses Hunter (No Summer Squash) Gillies. The first two games followed the same pattern. Dean taking an early lead to 5/6 something then Hunter pegging back and taking the game. At this point I must admit I felt like I was playing good controlled squash but still losing. So felling nervous I might lose my first match, a new plan, Hack and RUN. So lots of hacking and lots of running later I take the match 3-2.

So good beer, good food and some poor navigating home (sorry guys!) and another win for the Hillbillies. Next week its return leg of the match of the season so far, Cascades. That will be a good night so you are all welcome to the Hillbillie Ranch, just don't ask me how to get home!
