Report: | Final Game of the first round and Cascades needed a good win to keep the no 2 spot...
First up was mo and Phil - didn't see any of this because I was playing next door - but from all accounts mo started off in his usual "so laid back he's falling over" routine and underestimated his opponent. But a timely visit from his dad made him pull his finger out and put Cascades 1 up.
Sicknote (me) and Paul on next door, with the hot weather making this unlikely to be a touchy feely game....Ash started in his usual recent form playing with Mo's racket, with Paul playing some good front of court shots to put Ash one down. Ash momentarily stopped blaming the racket and found some form on his forehand side. Hitting the ball as hard as possible Ash managed to avoid any proper squash and won the next 3 fairly comfortably.
Neil "playing at 1 again" Baker proved to be struggling a little with self confidence here and lost the first in a game whose rallies seemed to go on fo ever. However, Peter's constant debates with the marker seemed to do Neil some good in the long run and with a change of marker to mo his fortunes seemed to change completely!....Some very good squash at times in the only close un match of the night.
Mike "international man of mystery" Stimson and Ade up next with Mike never really looking sharp enough and Ade always looking too strong for him. Mike seemed determined to put his shots down and went down easily 3-0.
Final Match was Ben "118-118" Coleman - never seen him stretched yet and this match was no different. Sean, although suffering with injury, never looked like he thought he could win and Ben walked to a resounding 3-0 win in around 20 mins.
Good food and lots of talk about cars (particularly all the ones Mike used to own...)finished off a good evenings squash. Thanks guys.
