Report: | Gary had two plans for the evening: the first was to punish Peter's lob (and any other) serves and the second was to scoot off and watch the England/Croatia match. The first ensured the second.
Kelvin battled manfully against the young talents of Elliot whose mature use of a wide range of shots was just too much for him.
Dean looked as if he would produce the winning match but Mark was relentless in chasing down almost every ball, achieving better length and stretching Dean who was probably regretting his soccer practice earlier in the evening.
Nick and Paul's match was even more exhausting to watch: Paul hitting what to many Div 3 players would be winners only to be retrieved indefatigably by Nick.
At 2-2, Jack and Tel played the decider, Tel having to use all his guile to win the points. Jack however overcame his frustration and broke Tel's flow with some well-judged lobs and forcing errors that were absent earlier in the match. Result: 3-2, rather closer than the England match! |
