Report: | Biggin Hill show little mercy to weak Cascades Side
Off to the Penthouse of Kent this week for the first round of title play off matches with an away trip to Cascades. With the sponsors in tow BH insisted a some pre match photo’s on Cascades finally refurbished courts, so with all the ho ha complete the match commenced.
First on court was Neil (Dad in Tow) Hitchins vs Neil (At No 1 AGAIN) Baker. Now these I’m sure are the kind of tough games that Mr Baker was after when he agreed to play for Cascades. This was arguable the second best match of the night with both Neil’s playing some good quality squash and when given the opportunity finishing the rally with some excellent kills. Unfortunately the BH Neil was just a bit tighter and killed a bit better than the Cas Neil. So 3/0 to BH Neil.
On the other court was a clash of the titans with Gorden (My God a black not brown BH Shirt) McManus vs Mike (I’ll have all my players for the return leg) Stimpson. This match was also quite entertaining with Gorden being in total control by either A; Playing a framed miss hit winner or B; Playing the ball of off the front wall straight at Mr Stimpson and pleading innocence when the crowd chuckled as it hit him. So again 3/0 to BH.
Next on were two more similar matches, Mark (Hit and Run) Lennox vs Stuart (Volley and Tire) Lamprell. The first game went Stuart’s way as he volleyed and hit winners a bit too much for Mark. From then on Mark tightened up a bit and Stuart had tiered too much so despite some very close games mark took all three of them and BH were 3-0 up.
On the other court FarZOOM Rasheed was trouncing all over Ben (Yet to be pushed) Coleman. I didn’t see any of this but FarZOOM had beaten Stacy a couple of weeks ago so Mr Coleman was pushed to far and FarZOOM took the game 3/0.
So with BH already 4-0 up the true battle of the titans took place as Stacy (Da Boss) Ross took on Tim (Off of the Gunniess) Vail. Mr Vail had been training all weekend ;), so another close match like the 3-2 at BH was expected. Unfortunately the courts at Cascades are a lot hotter than at BH and despite some quality squash and the usual excellent reading of the game & sublime winners from Mr Vail, Mr Ross also had enough winners of his own and the better retrieving to take the match 3-1.
So we start the playoff with a convincing 5-0 win and with Dulwich also taking advantage of a depleted BH2 team it already looks like it could be a 2 horse race for the title just like the winter season. Off to Dulwich next week and I think I might be missing that one also (Sorry Honest no Fantasy points from me that week aswell!).
Current Prediction:
1st BH1
2nd Dul
3rd Cas
4th BH2 |
