Report: | A good evening even though neither side were able to field a full team. We only had one court, which was just as well as I missed the turning for Thong/Inn on the Lake, and ended up a long way down the M2! A quick call to home put us back on track as Jess and I retraced our steps. Still no memorable signs to follow though - that's because they have disappeared underneath all the roadworks and you now follow the signs to Cobham & Shorne (take note).
Vanessa and Mareka had a good game, with Vanessa playing some good lengths (eventually) which were just what she needed to keep the pressure on Mareka to take the 3-1 win.
Jess was not quite as sharp as she has been in recent matches, but it was Angie's experience & reverse angles that eventually got the better of her. Just what you don't need at the end of a game with this sort of scoring. All the games were close but Angie took the match 3-0.
Meanwhile on the adjacent court some poor guy had gone and snapped his achilles. Angie (resident first aider) had to assist until backup came, then her match could continue. Hope he's ok.
Last up, Sue and the author. The hot courts suited my game more than Sue's, and I ended up winning 3-0.
As the showers were virtually non existant and it was past 10pm, we decided to give them a miss and have supper.
A very nice evening. Thanks girls. |
