Report

Report:Braving the arctic chill and having to park in snowdrifts somewhere down the side roads due to the inaccessible club car park, Dulwich II made their way to Langley Towers for this relegation battle.

First up - Robbins v Hughes.
Didn't see too much of this due to marking duties, but JEJ seems to have put in just the requisite amount of effort to ease past Brendan, thankfully not turning the ankle over this time, as the away fixture in the 1st half was where it all started.

Next door - Beevers v Shapiro.
Darren having been called in at about 4pm due to the usual PL day of the match team selection shenanigans, produced a very creditable effort in this one. Large quantities of effort were expended on both sides, with Steve's well used boast being the deciding factor really. That and several well disguised tennis shots down the forehand saw Steve squeeze through three tight games, before pummelling a tiring Darren into submission in the 4th.

Honours even. Next up Thompson v Kendall.
Martin looked to be heading in the right direction from the off in this one. Both players scampered around the court throughout, but Martin always seemed to have the edge. A close fought 2nd seemed to drain Matt's resistance and Martin eased through to take the 3rd and complete a comfortable win.

Next door - Harris v Marlow.
Only saw (marked) the first few points of this one, but Dave seems to have responded well to the idea of closing this one out with the minimum damage sustained. He looked to be in pretty good nick early on, powering drives away though the game scores suggest a fairly good contest.

So, with the match in the bag - London snr v Claudet.
A fast and furious affair here. The author seemingly heading in the right direction at last after a dire campaign so far, took the 1st pretty comfortably. Andy fought back strongly in the 2nd and should really have taken it, but a last ditch fight back at the end saw the author sneak it. The 3rd followed the pattern of the 1st, and saw the author round off a good evening for PL.

Thankfully the cancellation of the 2nds match allowed PL to field a full side and continue the quest to stay up. All that remained for the PL captain was a bit (lot) of pushing to get Martin's car out of the drift it was parked in - somewhere near Beckenham - and everyone trooped away into the night.
