Report

Report:Due to recent events there was a sombre mood at Bexley last night.
Amida turned up with their full strength team apart from Paul James who had the sniffles. Bexley was without captain Badger who was on the piste (read into that what you will)
First up Mark vs Marc, Bexley Mark started off like a steam train and looked to be cruising, after a game and a half Amida Marc started to get moving, it was nip and tuck until 4-4 in the last when Amida Marc pulled away.
Duane vs Guy, Guy at 2 was too strong for Duane who was playing his first match after injuring his back, I’m sure he will be aching today!
Father Matt vs Alex, both players were not confident going into this game, Matt with a week old baby (tired) and Alex after a weekend of racketball (the racket is a bit big), both played well at times but Matt just won the crucial points
Ben vs Jamie, Jamie has also been out with a back injury (but been in the gym) and after a couple of games chasing the ball he finally ran out of gas.
Deciding match, Steve (3rd team superstar) vs Dan, Dan took the lead early on in both the first and second games going 7-2 and 7-3 up but could not finish Steve off, after taking a 2-0 lead Steve closed the match out with Dan running hard until the end.

Highlight of the night was myself and Steve walking into the changing room to find Ben with a half shaved face, is this a new trend I thought to myself? But apparently not as Ben had broken his razor, lucky for him Steve had a spare and his embarrassment was spared.

Unfortunately only 6 for food, Guy had to get 2 rackets restrung after breaking them, Matt has a new baby to attend to (congratulations to the Green family on the birth of Josiah), Jamie off to pump iron and Alex who now appears to be allergic to food, well that’s what he tells me (I don’t believe it for a second).

A good win for Bexley 1st team but another loss for the 5th team who was also playing (more team training required!).

RIP Ian
