Report: | BCC Start With Defeat
After a sucessful summer campaign finishing 6th with a bare squad of 5 players (including El Capitano), BCC were hoping to get off to a winning start against a Rodmersham team they had beaten twice last season.
During the September transfer window, Biggin Hill (who are becoming much like Chelsea - buying their way to titles and making no friends along the way) poached Ted from BCC, in much the same way as Ashley Cole went from Arsenal to Chelsea. A re-jig of the 1st team was needed with Martin Rinotul brought in on a free from Belgium side Castle club.
El Capitano vs Martin
The missus was brought down for this one, in an attempt to put off the opponent. From the way the match went the only people she put off was El Capitano and King Lewy (marking).
Hilarious jokes aside, Martin was too fit and too accurate for El Capitano. Despite a stong revival in the 1st, Martin was always in control and ran out a 3-0 winner.
Jimmy Vs Tom
Never saw any of this one, but got all the excuses under the sun from Tom afterwards. Something about moving houses, working from home, up all night with babies, not played for ages. Jimmy had been ill in bed all last week with man flu and then had been horribly sick over the weekend after knocking back several club halfs.
Jimmy won 3-1, just knicking the 4th. If Tom had taken it to a fifth, Jimmy may have struggled to hold on. If Tom hadn't had a baby or had played more than once since August .......
King Lewy vs Neil Baker
What a match is all i can say! Started at 8.45pm - finsished at about 10.15pm. I think the 3rd game must have lasted about half an hour. Both players played some excellent squash, great retrieving and great rallies. The 3rd game was an epic with Neil having about 8 game points, both players were dead on their feet, but it was Neil who managed to prevail in the 4th. Great advert for squash - and not a pay rise request in sight.
Martin vs John
Was on marking, organising and shower duties so missed all of this game - except for noticing John wearing some sort of wife-beater top. I thought you were only supposed to wear those if you had the guns to show off. John certainly had the squash skills though and took full advantage of Martins' lengthy absence from competitive squash. 3-0
Sam Vs Malcolm
Malcolm started this match slowly and it took Sam no time to race into a 2-0 lead. Malcolm turned it around in the 3rd and should really have taken the 4th. Sam battled hard though and managed to just nick it 9-8.
Rodmersham win 3-2
Jimmy had to shoot off early with a bad stomach, whilst it was left to Lewy to provide the evenings entertainment with his usual selection of bad one-liners.
Next week we face Biggin Hill 1 or is it Biggin Hill 2, I'm not sure. Anyway it's on tuesday, no wait a minute Farzans' plane leaves on tuesday so i think it's Monday - oh i'm confused now.
All i definetly know is that Martin will have a good match against Ben Ford, and i will get thumped at 5 against Ted Jeal. At least the food is good down there.
