Report

Report:With the start of the season being about as bad as it could get the 3rd match in saw a change of fortune against a side that must be our main competition.

First on a 7PM! was Ray (The Mod) Bushell vs Steve (Hit it harder) Shapiro. Steve took the 1st very comfortably, then in the second the Mod found some length and to be honest looked to have the rest of the match in control. Halfway through the 3rd Steve could sense that match slipping so upped the pace. The Mod then slowed the pace down again and with Steve getting more and more frustrated the Mod took the game 3-2.

Next on the other court was Rory (Sheep Head + Face Hair!!!!) Pennell vs Delia. Only saw about 3 rallies of this match but Rory was just a bit to good and despite the usual slip and injury scare took the match 3-0.

Mark (Bemused) Lennox then took on Brenden. Only saw the first half of this match as I was on court but Brenden looked to be in control until the point where his fitness seemed to take its toll. Mark then ran and ran, hacked and hacked; played 1 drop shot, no he did I saw it with my own eyes! to take the match 3-1.

Next on was Dean (Slow) Newberry vs Andy (Sensible drop) Claudette. Having had a tough weekend in the Bexley Open (Well done Mark/Rob) I started off even slower than I usually do at the moment. Andy took the 1st 9-1 without a murmur of resistance. In the second I started to move, slowly move but move none the less. With some tighter squash and using my brain (that hurt, do I have one?) I took the next two 9-6. With some advice about moving me forward from Coach, Andy put up a strong battle in the 4th. From 7-2 down he fought back to 8-7 up. I then regained my composure after being informed “You are not allowed to turn” in a let call from Bemused I took the match 3-1.

About 12:30 well actually 21:30 John (Bad Day) Lane turned up, went on court and got hit with the ball in the bottom, nearly hit Matt (Coach) Kendall with a thrown bat then disappeared again! Think that’s enough about that one.

Cup match next week and then it’s the “Like the Murthy’s” lads. Judging by recent articles I think they might want to fight over the report writing let alone the squash/marking/underhand tactics!!!!!
