Report

Report:Its not often the cooking outshines the squash, but when you have a tasty meal prepared by Malaysia’s answer to Ken Hom and two cute assistants its difficult for the food not to take the centre stage.

The beautifully marinated chicken, with flowery rice and accompanied by a crispy salad was appreciated even by the ‘Bromley Boys’, and the chicken soup was the coup de grace. A great effort by Jam, although we think the lovely ladies did the lions share from start to finish.

Anyway on to the squash… Sam lulled Jason in with a first game full of rapid fire tins, and the roared back in the second with staccato trade mark nicks to draw level. When Jason finally realised that Sam could play some pretty good stuff, just not all the time, he steadied the ship and eased through in four.

Lewis and Tucker enjoyed trying to see if they could get the ball red hot on a some what chilly court, and succeeded admirably. The first ebbed, 5-0 Tucker, and flowed, Lewis back to 8-2 Lewis, before flowing to Tucker 10-9. The next was all ebb, Tucker 9-1. The third flowed, Lewis 8-2, before ebbing all the way to Tucker 10-9!

Jam cunningly left the girls to cook and got on with the squash, which was a relief to his team mates as much as to the girls. Edging the first 10/8 he remembered that he hadn’t given instructions how to turn on the cooker and raced through games and three to get back to the stove.

Martin showed plenty of silky skills on the way to securing the first against Tim, and then having lost the next two, demonstrated there were plenty more in the locker to tie it up at 2-apiece. Unfortunately, by that point the locker was bereft of energy and Tim nipped home in 5.

Will & Ian battle furiously in a tight first, before Will’s nostrils flared at the fine aromas coming from the kitchen and he was off chop chop ready to feast.

A hard fought five nil win, rounded off by another 10 souls enjoying fine food and a bit ‘o banter. Perfect Tuesday eve :-)
