Report

Report:A really good nights squash, the match could easily have gone the other way.

First on Si v Ron. A very scrappy game by both players, neither on top form. In the end Si's speed and fitness proved the difference and a 3-0 win for Beckenham.

On the other court, Andy and Terry were resuming an old rivalry, old being the operative word, perhaps. A cracking game by all accounts, tho i missed all of it, Terry edging it in the 5th.

Next on were Matt and Keith, familiar faces to each other due to Keith coaching at Beckenham on a Saturday afternoon and Matt normally playing with the remainder of the Beckenham top order. To say Matt came out of the blocks slowly is an understatement and Keith seemed slightly surprised at how easy the first was. Matt found his length and width in the second and third and it looked like one way traffic. I missed the fourth but by all accounts its was Keith forcing the pace and Matt tiring to take it to 5. The 5th was a great one for the neutral, Matt forging ahead a couple of times, only for Keith to peg him back on each occasion. Despite Matt tinning a winner on 8-6 he managed to hold in and claim the win. Game of the night.

On the other court Lee and Ian were having their own battle. From the little I saw it seemed like a game of who could hit it harder and retrieve more, some unbelievable gets from both players apparently. In the end Lee was a little too quick and fit and kept it tight in the fifth to win the tie for Beckenham.

Last on court was the old dog vs the young hound. Very intriguing match this, Kevin's disguise sending Nick the wrong way a lot in the first two but some wise coaching from his old man and some electric speed round court saw Nick come back in the third, playing some very intelligent squash. In the end, Kevin's experience told, leaving a very disappointed Nick but at only 19 he has many a Priory win ahead of him, if only cos he reminds me of myself 6 years ago!

As said previously, a great match and a good drink after
